Last Monday/See Ya Suckers!

There's no place like home. And when you can't go home, there's no place like a relative's home! Staying at my aunt and uncle's house was soooo relaxing. It was wonderful to wake up to the California sunshine peeking through the window and know that someone was downstairs making sure everything's okay. The coolest thing (other than my wonderful family) was the drawer full of tiny shampoo bottles in the guest bathroom! I've never seen anyone that prepared for guests before! (I should have taken a picture.)

I think this might have been Caroline's favorite day since she got to California, b/c she got to cook! My aunt came upstairs and said that Caroline was cooking eggs. She wanted to know if I wanted some. Eggs didn't really sound good to me, so I declined. When I went downstairs a few minutes later, Caroline was standing over the stove, spatula in hand, making the most beautiful omelet I've ever seen! She used FOUR kinds of cheese, asparagus, tomatoes (I think), and mushrooms, and she had this huge smile on her face! (I did take a picture of that.) At certain times during the rest of the day, she would get this peaceful look on her face and purr "omelet".

After our lovely breakfast, my aunt put us on the road with fresh strawberries, water, and maps. We headed to San Francisco, unaware that we would fall in love with the place. I've never been anywhere like San Francisco. (Going from LA to SF probably gave me more of an appreciation for the beauty of the latter.) It was pretty! That's the best way I know to describe it. It had houses built on the hills/mountains (similar to LA in that) and it was by the water (similar to Seattle in that) but it was pretty! I wish I had taken more pics of the city. I usually don't like random pics of a city after I've taken them, but now I wish I had. Things I liked about San Fran: the sun; the green parks; we could walk and walk and walk (like Chicago); the hills; the buildings; the water; Chinatown. You can see from the pictures what we did.

We had a fun time in the carpool lane going back to LA. "See ya suckers!" became a regular mantra for a few hours. Hwy 1 in the dark is an experience I'd rather not relive, and Pizza My Heart did not win my heart. We got back to LA at 2am.
