Erica's Coming Today!
As Erica comes back from Austin, she will be stopping and staying the night with me. :) I'm looking forward to it.
So, there's this point on Wedington where the buildings drop away and the hills recede, and you can always see the sun shining down through the clouds as you drive. I'm going to miss that. :)
On an entirely different note, I have a music review: Britney's new album Circus. Yes, that Britney--Britney Spears. Now, I am not reviewing the whole album, but I have to encourage you to listen to my favorite song, Unusual You. Now, don't be expecting an upbeat, dance tune. This is a slower, sweeter, gentler song.
Go here: http://www.rhapsody.com/britney-spears (ignore the scantily clad Britney) and click on "Unusual You - Album Version" in the list of songs. You don't have to create an account; you get 25 free songs (a week? a month? a life? I'm not sure.).
The intro is simple, but it already makes you feel like you're floating. Then, Britney starts singing. She sounds pretty good--no complaints on this end. My favorite part is when the harmony comes. Whoever sings the backup vocals on this song is amazing. Their voice is smooth and lilting and angelic. Listen to the songs through good headphones if you can, b/c then the beauty of the harmony and melody can be heard. It's really gorgeous. The background vocalist reminds me of Imogen Heap; she (or he?) undulates a lot with the harmony and takes it to some really interesting places. It makes the song.
And, please, enjoy the way the chorus starts with "Ba-haby". It's amusing to me how singers and writers like to stretch and distort lyrics in order to fit the beat of a song, but I find it strangely endearing.
