My First Protest/Rally In NYC

I was sitting in Red Mango (a frozen yogurt shop) and contemplating my life choices when I noticed hundreds (thousands?) of people streaming by in the eastbound lane of 14th St! "Wow!" I thought, "This is my first time witnessing a protest in New York!" Being "photo-journalistically"-inclined and the fact that mass movements of people, uncharacteristically, with little discretion as to the topic, get me very emotional, I hopped up with my unfinished yogurt in tow, whipped out my Flip (which I always have these days) and my Nikon (which I serendipitously had), and ran out the door. I followed them down 14th, recording and shooting pics, to their culmination in Union Square. I listened a little to the speakers encouraging everyone to contact their Senators and deploring California's actions to uphold Proposition 8, but mostly I took pictures.

I'm not sure what I think about gay marriage, so I wasn't in support or condemnation of the rally. I was just documenting one side of a complicated issue.
