No Stars by Maria Taylor
Had a fondue party last night that was amazing! There were ten girls, a lot of cheese, some chocolate, and copious amounts of wine. :) Things are coming to an end. People are graduating. Even Rory on the Gilmore Girls graduated on Tuesday! I realized that I never really celebrated my graduation. It just sort of happened and passed me by. There was hardly a rite of passage, even. It was just a day that I woke up and didn't go back to school. That kind of makes me sad. Not that I even wanted to walk, b/c it wouldn't have been long and painfully boring, but I almost wish I had...or I should have sent out graduation notices anyway. Maybe I will now. Maybe I can make up some really cool announcements, just to let people know what has happened over the past 5 months! Hm. Okay.
My jobs with FYE seem to be wrapping up. It comes in spurts. Sometimes, I think it's dead and over, and then it'll spurt back to life. The Greenhouse Grille just called and offered me the dish/prep job. I really liked the feel of the place and the people when I interviewed on Wednesday (was that Wednesday?). They really have their stuff together and a vision for their restaurant that I can support. I don't really know if I'll end up working there, or working there for very long. There's a two-week experimental period to see if it's a fit.
I have an interview at Martin Dingman on Monday. They're located north of Harrison...somewhere between Lead Hill and Diamond City. It's an Admin/Design Assistant. Mostly administrative stuff (60%) with the potential for the design side to increase. It sounds interesting, b/c the administrative stuff is dealing with customs and the Game and Fish Commission, etc. (They import fabrics and leather from South American and Italy.) I just don't know if I could handle living in a non-town (my word for a tiny, tiny town). We'll see, though. At least, I can practice my interviewing skills.
Last week, when I was talking to Stew from Printing Services at the UofA, he asked me if I would interested in working there! They aren't officially looking for someone yet, but he's trying to convince his boss to hire a new graphic designer. That would be a really good job for a while. I could stay in Fayetteville (which is better than moving to a non-town) and make money and get pre-press experience (which is very, very valuable in the graphic design world). But there's no time period for this potential job. It could happen in the next month or the next year...in other words, I can't really wait on it.
My Uncle Jerry just sent me a graphic design job advertisement in Green Bay, WI. I think I'll apply to that.
Plus, the AuPair in Switzerland is still a large possibility. It would be a great experience.
I need to go outside and play in the sun. Bye!
